Corporate Social Responsibility

1. Local Employment

Local human resource is given preference in the employment at the site. This is being enforced in letter and spirit by all the contractors working on the Project.

2. Tree Plantation

As per the environmental management plan of the Project, the Company has adopted the policy of minimizing the deforestation and encourages afforestation. As part of the afforestation activity, more than 600 trees have been planted by the company near the project area.

Plantation Drive 2019

As an integral part of our Environment Management Plan and an initiative towards green and sustainable environment, a plantation drive for the year 2019 has been carried out. This plantation will not only compensate the impact of construction works but will support the environment in future and help in the slope stabilization and soil erosion.

The tree plantation activity has been successfully completed. Total 4200 trees were planted both on weir (1790) and powerhouse site (2410) on various locations.

3. Scholarships for students

SHPL has instituted a fully funded scholarship of student of the local area who gets admission in public sector engineering university on merit.

4. Vocational Training Institute

As part of the community development, the sponsors will provide building for vocational training institute on the land provided by the government.

5. Establishment for Parks

For the uplift of the local community, the company will go one step ahead by expanding its scope of work in providing the recreational facilities to the local community. This includes state of the art Children Park at Lower Chatter Muzaffarabad and few other parks at different places near project boundary in AJ&K and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area.

6. School Support program

The company felt its responsibility towards the well-being of local community and supported the schools which were inoperative. The Company supported one primary school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area by constructing its roof and providing the necessary fixtures and furniture which resulted in increase in student enrollment. In addition, the company also provided the books and other items to the school in lower Chatter near the project camp office.

7. Training for skills for local people

By providing the employment opportunities to the local community, skill development is one of the benefits which is extended and has enhanced the expertise of the local community and has resulted in increased economic activities in the project area.
